Acorns are falling on our heads...

So we haven't been sleeping well lately. We live in a forest, filled with forest sounds (or lack of city sounds, which is WONDERFUL, super peaceful!) Our home is surrounded by large trees, which come to find out are the ones that have acorns, so what does that make them, Maple trees? I'm about as good at horticulture as I am geography. (If any of you recall in Michelle's maid of honor speech, I tried to convince a room full of people the day before the wedding that there were indeed 2 Antarctica's...one in the north and one in the south.) Come to find out, there is only one. Oops.

Anyway...these acorns, when falling from 80 feet, make some very interesting and sometimes scary sounds on our roof. Or if they hit the rain gutters....yipes, it's startles me. Then, not to mention the branches that fall during storms... If it's stormy I'm up about every hour, positive that a tree is going to come crashing down into the house. Maybe I should start medicating myself before a stormy night.

So Sunday Dave and I did some yard work, and we only raked a little landing of our yard. We weren't even raking much leaves, (our trees have only lost a few leaves, and they're starting to turn pretty colors!) we raked acorns. However, we ended up just shoveling acorns, I knew that snow shovel would come in handy down here! We filled a whole large yard garbage bag of acorns, and you can't even tell we'd touched it. This fall yard work is going to be interesting!! When we are outside we can hear the acorns falling through the leaves, so I can only imagine how we look covering our heads and running b/c we're scared we're going to get hit. Hope everyone else up north is enjoying their yard work, yours is about over, and ours has just begun!
